“Bright Ideas” Flashlight & Lantern Drive
The Bright Ideas Campaign is a community-powered safety initiative created by Bo’s Battery Repair to protect homebound and isolated seniors in El Dorado County during the dangerous foothill storm season. When winter storms knock out power in the mountains, many seniors are left in complete darkness — a situation that dramatically increases the risk of falls, injuries, and medical emergencies.
To combat this, we are collecting old, dead, dim, broken, or forgotten flashlights and camping lanterns from local residents. No matter how corroded or worn out they are, Bo’s Battery Repair will fully restore each device by cleaning out battery acid, rebuilding internal components, and installing fresh, high‑capacity batteries.
Once restored, these lights are delivered directly to homebound seniors, forming the foundation of emergency storm‑preparedness kits designed to keep them safe, confident, and connected during power outages.
The Bright Ideas Campaign transforms forgotten household items into life‑saving tools — and strengthens the bond between neighbors by ensuring our elders are never left in the dark.

Mission Statement
Bright Ideas exists to protect homebound seniors in El Dorado County from the dangers of darkness during power outages. Through community donations and expert restoration, we transform forgotten flashlights and lanterns into reliable sources of safety and hope. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to bring light, dignity, and security to those who need it most. Every beam we restore is a promise — that no senior will be left in the dark.
